Over three hundred employees at CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa benefitted from a number of health and lifestyle checks held at the Pent House in the main building at the property on Monday, July 22. The tests were carried out throughout the day by personnel from the Health Authority of Anguilla in collaboration with the Medical Air Services Association (MASA) and the resort.
Addressing the gathering, MASA’s Country Manager in Anguilla, Donald Curtis, said his company was proud to be associated with the event and with CuisinArt and the Health Authority. “This is one of quite a few different health fairs we sponsor throughout the year, and we are very well aware that this is key, and very important for everybody’s health. Taking control of your health, being aware of what your issues are, will make you confident that you are taking care of whatever needs to be done with your bodies,” Mr Curtis said.
Mrs Cleo Fleming, of the Department of Human Resources, welcomed MASA and the Health Authority of Anguilla to the event on behalf of CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa. “We are so thankful that they have come with their staff, and work with us, so that we could better maintain our health and know what is going on in our bodies,” she stated.
Mrs Fleming said that due to the large number of employees and the demands for them to remain at the property, it was convenient to hold the health fair and carry out the testing on site. “We were contacted by the Health Authority which got MASA to sponsor the event and we gladly said yes,” she told The Anguillian.“We were happy that they were able to come to our doorstep and offer this service.”
Mr Curtis explained that the health fair provided opportunities for testing blood sugar, blood pressure, HIV, foot care, eye care, dieting and pap smears. “Not everything is being done on site. For prostate tests, the staff are being given vouchers to take to the hospital to get free checks which would normally cost US$50.00. They are doing the HIV tests here on site or at the hospital; and we are also carrying out cholesterol testing which I think is the biggest one especially for men as they are getting older. This testing is also being done at the hospital on free vouchers – all sponsored by MASA. Each cholesterol tests cost US$25.00.”
The health fair began at 10.00 am and continued until after 4.00 pm.
