As of February 17th The Morlens School of Music intiated its Community Recital Series which aims at showcasing talented musical youth within the community. The purpose of the series is not only display the talent possessed by the eleven youths featured, but to also inspire youth in community to push, work hard and dedicate themselves to improve their musical development. The series made an extravagant start with Flautist, Avern Gumbs, in February followed by fellow Flautist, Kennida Vanterpool, who in April maintained the high standard previously set in the first performance.
Following Kennida, in the most recent instalment of the series, was Saxophonist, Michael Matthew. Michael is a seasoned saxophone player having completed his Grade 5 saxophone exams with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (London). On June 2nd, Michael presented a wide array of genres mostly focusing on modern contemporary music. He maintained the already high standard set by previous performances and in return received positive feedback from present audience.
Following Michael will be the talented pianist, Mr. Jose Vanterpool, who will uphold the high standard and etiquette already set by the previous musicians. The Morlens School of Music encourages the general public to attend future performances and support the dedicated youth performing. All free will benefits received from the series go towards the Blossom Centre and the ALHCS Concert Band.
