On Friday, July 12, the 2013 Anguilla Football Female League, officially ended with a presentation of awards to the clubs and various outstanding players. The closing ceremony was held in the conference room at the Anguilla Football Association’s (AFA) stadium. It was well attended by players and supporters.
The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Alkins Rogers. It began with an invocation by Ms. Esther Ward and continued with remarks by each of the representatives of the sponsors. Those who spoke were Mr. Trevor Woodley of Caribbean Commercial Bank (CCB), and Mrs. Maglan Richardson of Social Security. Both of them were pleased that their institutions were able to sponsor the league.
This year 4 out of the 5 clubs competed. Coach Colin Johnson said that despite that, it was a very competitive event. The 4 clubs which competed were: Shining Stars FC, which placed fourth; De Youngsters FC which placed third; Lil Soldiers FC which placed second; and Super Stars FC which took first place thereby successfully defending their championship title. The clubs were presented with medals, cheques and trophies.
During the presentation, monetary awards, as well as trophies, were presented to various clubs for the pre-tournament events.
In addition to the team awards, individual awards were presented to outstanding players from the various teams for best skills and abilities displayed throughout the tournament. Some very special awards were given to three outstanding individuals within the Football Association. They were AFA President, Mr. Raymond Guishard; Mrs. Monica Guishard and Coach Colin Johnson. Awards were also presented to all the referees and the ball boy in the tournament.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Mikeela Skellekie and was followed by a reception.
