The Executive Board of the Saint James School of Medicine American Medical Student Association (AMSA) Chapter, along with the Deans of the Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM), recently visited the Blossom Centre making a donation to assist the Centre in caring for children with special needs.
President, Christos A. Haralampus, of AMSA reflected on when SJSM AMSA members visited the Centre over a year ago, and were deeply affected by the special children and the work the Blossom Centre carries out in caring for the children. The impression on the SJSM students was so strong it carried over into their taking action to raise funds to assist the Blossom Centre in caring for the children. Making this donation on behalf of all SJSM AMSA Members, and SJSM at large, were Christos A. Haralampus, MS (AMSA President), Renee N. Harvey (AMSA Vice President), Claude-Bernard Iliou, MD (Dean of Basic Sciences), Alexey Podcheko, MD, PhD (Dean of Administration), and Bruce Davidson, PhD (Dean of Student Affairs).
The donation was gratefully received by Renuka Harrigan, Founder of the Arijah Children’s Foundation, the non-profit fundraising organization for Blossom Centre. Mrs. Harrigan thanked the SJSM AMSA group and said, “Donations such as yours is the lifeline of the Foundation and is keeping the Blossom Centre operational year round to provide special educational and therapeutic programmes and services for children with special needs in Anguilla.”
More information on the Saint James School of Medicine may be found on their website at http://anguilla.sjsm.org/ and their telephone number is (800) 542-1553, or locally 497-5125.
