“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” ~ Anatole France

“ANGUILLA” is now known in Davenport, Iowa USA as Tamara Natalie Blackmon (nee – Richardson) of Water Swamp, Anguilla graduated with a Dr. of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic on 14th June, 2013.
It was a moment of great pride to witness Anguilla’s Flag being carried ahead of the procession, identifying Graduate Tamara Blackmon as a member of Palmer’s graduating international student body. Tamara is the first Anguillan known to graduate with a Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree. In addition to her genuine care and concern for patients, she also chose this profession because of its practice of a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care. She chose Palmer College of Chiropractic because it is reputably known to produce the best adjusters world-wide, and is historically known as the fountain head of the Chiropractic profession.Former graduates also hailed from Puerto Rico and Barbados.

During the course of her study at Palmer College, Tamara acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree on 22nd February 2013. In her service to Palmer and the Chiropractic profession, she has contributed unselfish leadership as treasurer for Student Black American Chiropractic Association (SABCA), promoting the Philosophy, Science and Art of Chiropractic, thus aiding in achieving a spirit of unity for the betterment of the Chiropractic profession. She also proudly served as a Clinical Teaching Assistant, where she supervised and assisted student interns in performing physical examinations, chiropractic analyses, developing appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans under the direction of Clinic Faculty.
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculo skeletal and nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuro musculo skeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by Chiropractors is known as “spinal manipulation”, also known as chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile, or restricted in their movement, as a result of a tissue injury.

Tamara’s passion for healthcare evolved from her previous employment at the Hughes Medical Centre, where she developed a keen interest in health care, particularly with geriatrics.
Tamara is the daughter of Dorothea Hughes of Sandy Ground and Tennyson Richardson of Water Swamp.
Tamara wishes to take this opportunity to thank all who supported and offered words of encouragement throughout the years.
