Cap Juluca’s Charles and Linda Hickox – the original and current owners of the iconic Caribbean resort – continue to promote Anguilla as a top Caribbean destination, and recently hosted a press event with top travel journalists.
Respected travel writers and editors – who included David Lansing for Islands Magazine, Michael Espindle, group editor for Elite Travel; Christine Gray, editor-in-chief of Luxury Travel; Paul Kandarian, travel contributor of the Boston Globe and Molly Tully, editor of New Jersey Brides – convened at Cap Juluca to enjoy three days on Anguilla, with a full itinerary that showcased the very best of the island, including island tours, sunset cruises, spa treatments and beach time.
The event was timely, as Cap Juluca is now celebrating its 25th anniversary, and was recently named the number one hotel on Anguilla and one of the Best Hotels in the Caribbean by U.S. News & World Report.
The Hickox, who owned and operated the resort from 1987 until 1997, acquired their dream resort once again last year, reuniting with Unique Hotels to focus on elevating this premiere Caribbean retreat to even higher levels of excellence by investing millions to upgrade rooms, restaurants and public spaces.
Highlights of the recent redo include the newly refurbished Spice Lounge, Blue and Maundays Bar at the Main House as well as the addition of the 3,290-square-foot Jonquil Suite, a beautifully appointed luxury villa with two master bedrooms, a sitting room, a full-service kitchen, an oceanfront dining terrace, a Jacuzzi and a private, freshwater infinity pool. Playing off the stunning natural beauty of Anguilla, the suite is appointed in a simple transitional style marked by wood-beamed ceilings, abstract artwork, bold geometric patterns and textured jute and shag rugs – with bright pops of turquoise to complement the dazzling ocean panoramas.
Situated within 15 striking whitewashed villas, all guestrooms and suites have been refreshed in a similar motif with vivid splashes of colors, abstract art, new soft goods and furnishings.
