ATTEMPTED ROBBERIES ON MAY 30, JUNE 1

The Police in Anguilla reported that on Thursday, May 30, at about 10.50 pm they were contacted about an attempted robbery at a Chinese Store in Rey Hill.

On arrival the Police were told that three masked men armed with a gun entered the premises and tied up two Chinese nationals. Attempts were made, without success, to enter the business establishment. No one was injured.

On Saturday, June 1, at about 9.25 pm, Police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at a Chinese Supermarket in Little Dix. On arrival, it was reported to the Police that two masked men armed with a gun and a knife attempted to enter the store just after the proprietor had locked the door. The assailants fired several gunshots at the door then fled the scene. No one was injured.

The Police recovered items of evidential value from both scenes.

The Police are conducting investigations into the two attempted robberies. An appeal is being made to members of the public who may have information about the two incidents to contact the Criminal Investigation Department.
