External Verifier, Prof. Gossett Oliver is presently on Anguilla to examine students of Electrical Installation programme offered at the Anguilla Community College (ACC). Prof Oliver isVice President for graduate studies, research and entrepreneurship and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at the University of Technology (UTech). He was very pleased with the level of performance of students and commended the facilitators -Mr. Kasseem Forde and his associate Mr. Derek Gumbsand ACC for a job well done. Prof. Oliver was pleased to announce that all students passed the Electrical Installation programme:

“Students performed well above the prescribed objectives of the course. The course was delivered with a high level of practical (hands-on-approach) that empowered the learners – ‘THAT THEY CAN DO’. In fact at the end of the programme one of the learners was able to completely undertake an electrical installation job for a house. This City & Guilds certification is well deserving and should allow the learners to continue on a pathway to growth”Prof. Gossett Oliver June 11 2013.

This is a momentous occasion for the Anguilla Community College particularly since additional Technical Vocational Education (TVE) initiatives will be offered in September 2013. ACC believes that TVE plays a critical role in the socialand economic development of Anguilla. The College is therefore bolstering efforts to forge relationships and collaborations with industry and private enterprise in order to ensure that TVE meets its full mandate. TVE is offered through theCentre for Vocational and Technical Education, under the directorship of Dr. LeRoy Hill. The objectives of the centre are to provide training and skills development in areas of Agriculture, Automotive Technology; Electrical Installation; and Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning, Cosmetology and Building Technology. These training programmes would allow individuals in Anguilla, for the first time to obtain locally, City and Guilds of London certification.

ACC would like to congratulate the Electrical Installation students (Dwayne Proctor, Clive Garvey, Nigel Brooks, Jeritza Samuel, LenBico Lawrence) for a job well done.
