The Church of God of Prophecy, Anguilla, honoured one of the stalwarts of the Gospel, Evangelist Sephos ‘Stephen’ Rogers of Wattices on Sunday 28th April 2013.Evangelist Rogers was recognized for his fifty seven (57) years of invaluable contribution to the proclamation of the Word of God.
Evangelist Rogers was afforded a grand welcome into the church by the Seventh Day Adventist Drum Band. The service included tributes from family and church members while words of appreciation were brought by the clergy. Special presentations of dance and singing were rendered by Prophecy Dancers, Ms. Jaine Rogers, Ms. Katherine Webster and family members from St. Maarten. Additionally, Mr. Neville Hamilton recited one of Evangelist Rogers’ favourite poem, ‘Don’t speak big words’.
Brother Harold Vanterpool inspired the congregation with the song “Find us Faithful”. This was very appropriate, as Mrs. Tracelyn Hamilton then recounted Evangelist Rogers’ life. This biography was presented in a unique classification of ten (10) volumes from Evangelist Rogers’ life. At his request, Evangelist Rogers brought the message entitled, “Where can wisdom be found.” He also expressed his profound gratitude for the kindness shown to him and thanked family and friends who made a special effort to attend the service in his honour.
The Seventh Day Adventist Drum Band made an excellent 15-minute display to climax the service which was regarded as very timely and appropriate. Evangelist Rogers was treated to a scrumptious lunch at Ocean Echo, West End.
