In the above photograph, is a Real Talk Anguilla discussion on the controversial reduction of the 2013 carnival activities, in Anguilla, by the Executive Council.

The main contention is the cancelling of the 16-year-old Leeward Islands Calypso Competition (LICC), a climaxing highlight of the Summer Festival. There is considerable fear in Anguilla that other islands may grab the opportunity to host the popular event, thus robbing Anguilla of the benefits of such a fascinating show.

The talk show at Radio Anguilla on Wednesday evening was led by Messrs John Benjamin QC, a former Carnival Committee Chairman, Marcel Fahie, a cultural enthusiast, Joseph Vanterpool, the long-standingChairman of the LICC and Gustav Caines.

The talk show hosts and callers are suggesting to Government to reinstate the Leeward Islands Calypso Competition, and in the meantime they have begun to raise money in pledges to assist with financing the event.
