On Saturday 11th May the JC Recreational Centre held a Flexibility Workshop for students and coaches of the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA). The workshop was facilitated by Coach Louis Price and was requested to educate students of the ATA on the ways to take care of and improve their bodies mentally and physically to be able to play better tennis. Learning about flexibility and stretching is an effective way to be best friends with your body and prevent injuries. This technique can apply to different sports and to every-day life. A stretching routine carried out before bedtime, holding each stretch for 30 seconds, turns of the tension that can build up in the body during the day and allows it to fully relax as you sleep.
The workshop combined basic theory about the way the body and mind work together with a practical session where the participants used mats and went through a stretching routine. To quote Mr. Mitch Lake, founder of the Anguilla Tennis Academy:
“Dear Coach Louis,
I write to express my sincere gratitude to you for working with the ATA coaches and students on the importance of stretching. Your vast knowledge and professionalism in this area is quite admirable. Continued success to you and the J C Recreational Center as you continue to strengthen the mind, body and soul of the Anguillian community.
Regards,
Mitch”
The JCRC looks forward to collaborating with the ATA further in the future.
