The Anguilla Community College has begun a series of quarterly lectures to promote the value of art, history and other social aspects of life.

The first lecture was delivered on Thursday evening, May 2, at La Vue Conference Centre. The presenter was Mr. Bernard Kinsey whose lecture highlighted the Kinsey Collection – a compilation of African and American treasures of History and Art. The Kinsey Collection is based in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Kinsey and his wife, Shirley, both of whom own the Kinsey Collection, were welcomed to Anguilla by Chairperson of the Anguilla Community College, Mrs.Rhona Richardson-Roydon, and Professor Delroy Louden to whom they presented a book on the Kinsey Collection.

The popular collection tells the story of the African American experience from 1632 to the present through original art, artifacts and historical documents.

A brochure circulated by the Community College stated in part: “The collection is one of the few published works that includes many overlooked and often untold stories of African American achievement and contribution. The Kinsey Collection makes an excellent teaching tool, gift, or resource for personal discovery and inspiration.”

The lecture was attended by a number of persons in Anguilla, among whom was Mr. Colville Petty, Curator of Heritage Collection Museum at East End. The Community College will be announcing when another in the series of lectures will be presented.
