Kimberly-Clark Inc., a Puerto Rico-based company, trading in sanitary paper products and other supplies, has launched a Community Outreach Programme in Anguilla with presentations to two schools.

The presentations, of Scott paper towels and tissue paper, were made by Kay Prince-Greenaway and Corwin Carty of Tropical Distributors, the Anguilla agents of Kimberly Clarke, on Thursday, March 28.

Ms Prince-Greenaway, Operations and Inventory Officer for Tropical Distributors, and in charge of Marketing for Kimberly-Clark, said the Puerto Rican company wanted to assist organisations in Anguilla involved in community work. The Blossom Centre, operated by the Arijah Children’s Foundation, and the Teacher Omololu Institute, were the two recipients chosen for assistance. Ms. Prince-Greenaway and Corwin Carty commended the schools for their work with children over the years.

Replying, Renuka Harrigan, Founder of the Arijah Children’s Foundation said it was 100% a non-profit organisation and was relying on the kindness of business groups and individuals to support it in its efforts to help Anguilla’s children with special needs. “We use paper products in mass amounts to clean up our centre on a daily basis,” she said. “It is the small day-to-day things we use that can often add up, and a gift like this is something that will carry us through for sometime.

“The Blossom Centre is the facility where the Arijah Children’s Foundation provides for the care of children with special needs. We focus on early intervention by helping young children to develop if they are falling behind, and older children who perhaps require a lot of physical therapy along with their early childhood skills, life skills development and education.”

The presentation to the Omololu Institute was acknowledged by grade four student, Nandi Edwards. On behalf of the staff and students of the school, she thanked Tropical Distributors and Kimberly-Clark for their generous donation. She presented a token of appreciation to Ms Prince-Greenaway and Corwin Carty, the representatives of the two companies.
