Luke 17: 24 – 30
24 For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.[i] 25 But first he must endure much suffering and be rejected by this generation. 26 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 They were eating and drinking, and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all of them. 28 Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, 29 but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed all of them 30 —it will be like that on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

Genesis 19: 1 – 9
The Depravity of Sodom

19 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 He said, “Please, my lords, turn aside to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you can rise early and go on your way.” They said, “No; we will spend the night in the square.” 3 But he URGED them STRONGLY; so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; 5 and they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, so that we may know them.” 6 Lot went out of the door to the men, shut the door after him, 7 and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly.8 Look, I have two daughters who have not known a man; let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please; only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.” 9 But they replied, “Stand back!” And they said, “This fellow came here as an alien, and he would play the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near the door to break it down.

1) The world has rejected the Lord Jesus. We’re now in the post Christian era, “the falling away” (Luke 17:25)

2) They were eating drinking, marrying, making merry & celebrating depravity and pride (Luke 17: 27,28).

3) Lets characterize the attitude of the people of Sodom in Lot’s day: They were: Aggressive, Defiant, Demanding, Abusive, Threatening, Bullying, In your face, Arrogant, Boastful, Out and Proud, Unapologetic, etc.

4) Compare and contrast that ATTITUDE with what we are witnessing with them today.

5) Ponder this: Why did Lot URGE them STRONGLY?

6) We see this same DEFIANT, PROUD, BOASTFUL, spirit at work today. We see it displayed in our streets, in marches. We see it surrounding and attacking our businesses. It is satanic. It Boasts: (Isaiah 14: 13 – 14) “I will ascend to Heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit on the mount of assembly on the heights of Zaphon;[c] 14 I will ascend to the tops of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.”

7) The demands to be “married” in churches, by pastors who hold to biblical truths, will surely come. Civil union law gives exactly the same rights to them as to married heterosexual couples, but that wasn’t enough, was it? They demand to be “equal”. “We demand to be married in churches just like them, or else!”. Lets revisit Daniel’s warning, (repeated by the Christ in Matthew 24: 15); “When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:)”. When you see the desolating sacrilege standing in the holy place before the altar, remember the warning!

8) Judgement is coming: The wheels of GOD’s justice grinds slowly, –(to give every man, woman and child a chance to repent and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior), –but it grinds very fine!

9) Repent now and be saved! When you see these things coming to pass, look up, for your redemption draws nigh.
