A digital finger-printing system was handed over to the Royal Anguilla Police Force by Governor Alistair Harrison on Wednesday, April 24. It was funded largely by the British Government, with assistance from the tourism industry, at a cost of over US$50,000.
The Governor remarked that crime was too big an issue to be solved by one person or one body alone, and that it was very good that the tourism industry had contributed towards the equipment.
The provision of the equipment was requested by Commissioner Rudolph Proctor as part of the continuing fight against crime.
The installation of the equipment and training of a number of police officers were done by Mr. Scott Howard of Afix Technologies Inc.of Pittsburg, Kansas. “The systems that have been put in will greatly enhance the abilities of the Anguilla Police to process finger-printing evidence and make it available for use in their investigations,” he stated.
