As usual I am always surfing the internet and came across your article. It would be remiss of me if I did not put ‘pen to paper’ write. I noticed from your article that a lot of research has been put into it and I congratulate you.
I am a Roman Catholic and have been monitoring the appointment of Popes from the 1950s via Radio, later television and now by other means of technology. Now through technology people of all faith/denominations were able to watch the Historic moment.
I have had the privilege of residing on the premises where priests (with different languages, cultures, were from different countries/islands) lived and visited for many years. I can say that they were very good and faithful priests, they helped not only Roman Catholics spiritually and financially but people of all denominations/faith.
Yes – I am disheartened with what has happened within the church over the past years. Has that turned me away from the church – No. It has made me firmer.
Yes – A FEW priests (out of the hundred of thousands) have made terrible mistakes, does that mean all are not faithful. The priests knew the policy of the Roman Catholic Church (Latin) before they got into priesthood.
On the news so many times you hear about priests/ministers from different denominations who are MARRIED but still living secret, unfaithful not Holy lives. Some are committing sin with their neighbor’s wife/child and sometimes people from within their congregation.
I feel the answer to the problem is not Marriage for the priests.
What happens if the policy is changed to marriage and the priests are still not Holy (sex with young boys).
Should the policy be changed again?
The Roman Catholic Church is/and still trying to make amends by apologizing publicly for the mistakes the priests have made and the damage caused to the innocent boys. Information will show that some of the allegations against some priests were unfounded/not true and some people were it for the large sums of money paid out.
The Lord said Ask for forgiveness and it will be given to you
Like other Roman Catholics I pray that with the appointment of Pope Francis 1: The 1st pope from the Western Hemisphere/Latin America; The pope appointed with a living pope; The pope appointed on the day with all the #’s 3, will bring hope and spiritual strength not only to Roman Catholics but people of all faith throughout the world. Remembering that in some parts of the world there is no Freedom of Religion and where persons who never heard about Religion.
We in the Western Hemisphere/Latin America have to be thankful for Pope Francis 1.
May God continue to bless and guide him as he continues his journey .
GOD BLESS POPE FRANCIS 1.
