The Opposition Leader in the Anguilla House of Assembly, the Hon. Evans McNiel Rogers, is leading a delegation of six senior members of the Anguilla United Front on a seven-day trip to England from April 10-17.
The delegation which left the island on Tuesday, also comprises the Hon. OthlynVanterpool; Party Leader, Victor F. Banks; Chairman, Fritz Smith; Deputy Chairman, Cardigan Connor; and Secretary, Sheila Richardson.
Their itinerary, following their arrival in London on Wednesday, April 10, was announced as follows:
Thursday, April 11 at 7 pm: Meeting with the UK Organising Committee.
Friday, April 12 at 11 am: Meeting with Tim Colley, Deputy Director,
Overseas Territories Directorate, FCO.
Meeting with Fiona Mc Taggart MP for
Slough (at a time to be determined).
Saturday, April 13 at 3 pm: Reception hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Vanterpool.
Sunday, April 14 at 5 pm: Meeting with the Anguillian Community in Slough.
Monday, April 15 at 7 pm: Meeting with the Executive body of AXA/UK Association and Aspire
Wednesday, April 17: Departure.
An AUF press release advised that: “Arrangements for the meetings with Mr. Colley and MP for Slough, Ms. Fiona McTaggart, have been made by Ms. Dorothea Hodge, UK Representative to Anguilla and with approval of Chief Minister Hubert Hughes. All other arrangements for the trip have been done by a Slough organising committee comprising Nat Vanterpool, Robert Williams, Steve “Bess” Gumbs, Tina Brooks-Abraham; Ziggy Sutton and Carol Carty-Sutton. It is anticipated that Dorothea Hodge, Nat Vanterpool and Robert Williams will accompany the AUF delegation to the meeting at the FCO.
“Among the topics proposed for discussion with Mr. Colley and MP Fiona McTarggart are: Tertiary Education opportunities for Anguillians in the UK; opportunities for sports and athletic training for Anguillians; building relationships with UK Government Agencies and Departments for Investment & Trade; issues relating to retired British Citizens of Anguillian heritage residing in Anguilla; Climate Change and Alternative Energy issues; opportunities for young Anguillians to enrol in UK Armed Forces; and other issues.”
