The brown painted grass can only mean one thing in Anguilla, the annual J.W. Proctors Track and Field Classic. Last weekend several clubs and Primary Schools took to the track for bragging rights and hardware. Participating track clubs included the Black and Gold Athletics, Elite Athletics, Rainbow Rockets, Diamonds and Dynamics from St. Marteen. The small but appreciative crowd was treated to outstanding performances by athletes in all age groups.

Iyesha Carty, Nekoye Hodge, Sethreander Williams, Jayden Forde, Raymel Niles, Anisa Connor and Arron Richardson were some of the many outstanding athletes, who performed over the weekend. The much anticipated 400m clash between St. Marteen’s Sheldon Wilson and Anguilla’s Aiden Hazzard never lived up to expectation. The former devasted the field with a blistering lap to complete his race in 53: 04 seconds. Aiden came second with a time of 55:11 seconds and third place went to Da’Quan Fredricks with a time of 57:57 seconds.

The Rainbow Rockets stole the show in both male and female divisions but were given stiff competition from Diamonds Athletics, Elite Athletics, Dynamics and the Black and Gold track and field clubs.
