An Automated Fingerprinting Identification System is to assist the Royal Anguilla Police Force in its analysis of evidence taken from crime scenes. This will substantially help investigators in solving a number of incidents which may take place on the island.
The equipment is due to arrive in Anguilla later this month. It will have a substantial storage database and various other special features. Commissioner of Police, Rudolph Proctor, described the figure printing machine as a key tool needed by the Criminal Investigation Department. He added that experts from overseas would be coming to Anguilla to train officers of the Force in fingerprinting techniques.
The equipment was funded by the British Government, through the Governor’s Office, and was sourced in Florida by the Regional Police Adviser.
Part of the upgrading of the Police Force has been the recruiting of fifteen new officers who are currently being trained at the Regional Police Centre in Barbados.
