There is a long period of drought in Anguilla, but a garden above the mango area in Chalvilles is the source of much vegetable food-crops. This is due to the work of a number of persons sharing the cultivated land and to a system of irrigation there.
One of the farmers is Lawson Harvey who has been planting sweet potatoes, sweet peppers, tomatoes and other short-term crops for some four years.
This week Harvey came to The Anguillian to showcase a portion of his bountiful harvest. During the day he supplied several outlets with top quality produce for which he fetched some much-needed financial returns.
Harvey refers to himself as “the productive producer”, denotinghis continued success in farming.
