As a concluding activity to the Social Studies and Science topics “Tourism and Transportation” the grade two students at the Alwyn A. Richardson Primary School embarked on an “Extraordinary Field Tri” where the students were given the opportunity to be tourists for a day. Tr. Marian Abbott along with her assistant Tr. Laurie Connor created passport journals for the students to use as they checked- in at the various planned destinations.
The students visited the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport, where they had a full tour and checked- in at the Immigration Department, retrieved their bags from the luggage belt and went through the luggage search process at the Customs Department. The students then visited the Blowing Point Seaport where they went through the same procedure.
However, the most exciting part of the field trip was the night spent at the luxurious Viceroy Hotel. The students were treated like royalty as they checked-in. They were taken on tours of the grounds and were taken to their villa where they spent the night. They enjoyed the use of the pool and jacuzzi and loved the 100% room service they received, both at dinner and breakfast.
At the end of each stop the students presented the departments with certificates thanking them for hosting us on our field trip. Each certificate was signed by the teachers and students and pictures were taken.
This trip was surely a trip to remember. We would like to say a special thanks to the Management and Staff at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport, the Management and Staff at the Blowing Point Seaport and to Mr. Richard Alexander and his team, especially Mrs. Tania Browne for making this Extraordinary Field Trip a great success.
