Eric Hughes, long-term Washington D.C. resident, born and reared in Perth Amboy, New Jersey of Anguillian parents, former (U.S. Department of State and retired U.S. Department of Commerce employee) and Founder of the Anguilla Pocket Billiards Association; is scheduled to play among forty-eight (48) participants in the United States Billiards Association 2013 National 3-Cushion Billiard Championship, April 3-7 at the Convention Center in Edison, New Jersey.
It is the first time that the National 3-Cushion Billiard Tournament is being held in New Jersey, so history is being made. Hughes participation has created quite a buzz within the local media, because of his family roots within a traditional Anguillian immigrant community in Perth Amboy, two miles from Edison. During his boyhood, he developed a strong interest and learned to play the sport.
“Although I have played in many local, regional and national tournaments, I always look forward to the spirit of competition and the camaraderie that I have developed with my fellow players.”
Family, friends and supporters (including Anguillians from the New York / New Jersey area) plan to attend the event and provide a show of home grown pride.
