The Anguilla Red Cross is expanding and improving on its delivery of first aid training to the local community with assistance from the British Red Cross.
Ms Sarah Jackson a BRC trainer is assisting the Branch to develop existing trainers and train additional trainers to aid in the First-Aid programme area. The ARC First-aid Programme area covers branch preparedness for first aider deployments in disasters; ongoing provision of first aiders at public events, e.g. sporting events, concerts, fetes etc; first aid education in the community (i.e. Everyday first aid) also commercial first aid training services.
The primary intent of Ms. Jackson’s visit is to enable the Anguilla Red Cross and Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross branches to independently manage the first aid training teams to meet local needs.
This training will enable the ARC to
• have more ARC first aid trainers to deliver training
• have members of the first aid training team who are able to use Automated External Defibrillator’s (AED’s)
• be able to include use of an AED in first aid training programmes
• Use Everyday First Aid to teach first aid in the community
At the end of Ms. Jackson’s visit, she will make recommendations for appointing the 2 master trainers. The BRC is committed to ensuring that the technical support provided is effective and builds long-term capacity and improvement for the overseas branches.
