Digicel personnel with Bankie Banx and associates

Bankie Banx expressed his thanks to Digicel for their commitment to Moonsplash for the second year. He noted that it is a challenge in these economically difficult times and they are grateful to Digicel. Moonsplash will start on February 21 and continue with beach activities in the day time and performances in the evening until February 24.
This year the line-up for Moonsplash includes, along with Bankie, Big Youth and Patra, and Queen of the Pack, both legendary artistes in their own right. They will be joined by Romain Virgo, Pressure, and Playing for Change for the three-day Festival which will also showcase local bands, British Dependency, True Intentions, The Overdrive String Band, Cyprus Roots and Omari Banks Eleven. Completing the lineup of performers will be Junior Jazz and Ikronik featuring Bankie Banx and Sheriff Bob.
At a press conference this week Bankie introduced some of the team for Moonsplash 2013 including the Musical Director, Junior Jazz who has worked with Bankie since 1991 and the first Moonsplash. He said he is very happy to be in Anguilla and stressed the diversity of the music at Moonsplash, including reggae, soca, R & B and string, where everyone can find a place.

Bankie also introduced band leaders Davon Carty for British Dependency who thanked Bankie and Digicel, noting that Moonsplash gives the younger generation something to appreciate. Darius James of True Intentions said that his band will be backing Pressure from St Thomas. Omari Banks said that his band Banks Eleven will soon be releasing its first ablum. He said that he is happy to be part of the Moonsplash family and is excited about this year’s performances.

Colwayne Pickering, Corporate Sales Manager for Digicel said his company does much in the community throughout the region and they are proud to support Moonsplash especially as it appeals to young and old alike. “Moonsplash brings variety and diversity and transcends generations,” he noted.
