The Anguilla Tourist Board is pleased to confirm the start of regular scheduled services from the Anguilla St. Maarten Ferry Terminal with effect from February 1st, 2013. The scheduled service which is offered by Calypso Charters, will facilitate the smooth flow of travellers from St Maarten to Anguilla and will complement the charter services currently being offered to the island.
Scheduled services aboard Calypso depart Anguilla’s Blowing Point Ferry Terminal at 7:30 am, 8:45 am, 9:45 am, and 11:00 am. Afternoon services begin at 12:00 noon, 1:00 pm, 2:30 pm, 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Calypso departs St. Maarten at 8:15 am and 10:00am, while afternoon trips are available from 12 noon, 1:00 pm, 2:15 pm, 3:15 pm, 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
Transfer guests arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport are greeted in the Arrivals Hall of the airport by a professional team and escorted to the Anguilla-St. Maarten Ferry Terminal. Fares are set at $65 per person one way. Children under 3 years are free, while children under 12 years are half-price. Special local rates are also available.
Currently, visitors to Anguilla can travel from St Maarten to Anguilla by air, via Anguilla Air Services which offers Scheduled and Charter flights, or TransAnguilla Airways, which offers Charter Services only; via the Fort Louis Ferry Terminal in Marigot, St Martin; or via charter ferry services out of Simpson Bay. The Anguilla/St Maarten Ferry Terminal is open for business from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, daily. Key components of the new service include Immigration services on site and regulation of the process followed by scheduled and charter ferry services. Another key element is the introduction of a late-night ferry service (reservations preferred) which will depart Anguilla at 5:30 pm for St Maarten, and return to Anguilla at 7:00 pm and 10:30 pm nightly, thus allowing for greater opportunities to share both islands’ evening experiences.
“We are pleased that the level of cooperation between the Governments and People of St Maarten and Anguilla has made such an agreement possible”, states Mr Leslie Richardson, Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board. “Our aim is to provide as many avenues as possible for our esteemed guests to access our beautiful shores, and we wish to make the Transfer Experience an integral part of the Anguilla Experience. By providing a building that is aesthetically appealing, facilities that are geared towards enhancing the service that we offer, and a range of travel options that caters to all travellers, we are able to accomplish this objective.”
The Anguilla Port Facility was financed by the Government of Anguilla through the Anguilla Tourist Board, and realized with the support and assistance of LHE Holdings in St Maarten, who provided Project Management services; Viceroy Resort & Villas, who contributed significantly to the Terminal Building; Cuisinart Golf Resort & Spa, who contributed the Landscaping services; and Cap Juluca Resort, who contributed to the interior furnishings of the building.
