After a long day on Tuesday 15th January, dealing with a number of issues, both the Government and Opposition sides of the Anguilla House of Assembly paid glowing tribute to Mrs.Nardine Lake one of the island’s now departed revolutionary heroines.
The tributes were led by Minister of Home Affairs, Walcott Richardson, who was followed by Minister of Social Development, Edison Baird; Adviser to the Chief Minister, Jerome Roberts; Minister of Infrastructure, Evan Gumbs; Parliamentary Secretary, Haydn Hughes; Opposition Member, Othlyn Vanterpool; and Chief Minister Hubert Hughes.
In their tributes the parliamentarians spoke in honour of the role Mrs. Lake played in the Anguilla Revolution which has been a significant contributor to the freedom and progress of the island and its people.
The speakers stressed that Government’s decision to hold a National Funeral for the fallen heroine was a fitting tribute to her. They also spoke highly about members of Mrs. Lake’s family to whom they offered their condolences.
