The Royal Anguilla Police Force Criminal Investigation Department and the Drugs and Firearms Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting incident which left two persons dead and three injured.
The incident occurred on Monday, December 17, at about 10.00 p.m. at the Blue Diamond Bar in The Quarter.
A press release stated that at about 10.05 p.m. a report was received at The Valley Police Station that two masked assailants, armed with firearms, entered the Blue Diamond Bar and five persons were shot.
On arrival there, Police Officers discovered the body of Anuery Derrick, 32, a native of the Dominican Republic, who was unresponsive and lying on the floor. On further examination of the scene, officers discovered the body of Aswad Delonis, 17, of Anguilla, lying in the bushes outside the Blue Diamond Bar, also unresponsive.
The Emergency Medical Technicians, along with a Medical Doctor from the Princess Alexandra Hospital, were summoned to the scene. Both Anuery Derrick and Aswad Delonis were later pronounced dead by the doctor.
Coroners summoned to the scene granted permission for the bodies to be taken to Rey’s Funeral Home pending post mortem.
Two of the injured persons were treated at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and discharged, while the third person was detained undergoing medical treatment for injuries sustained.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force is appealing to the general public or to persons who were in the vicinity of Blue Diamond Bar, or having any information in relation to the incident, to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 497-2333, ext. 3251, website www.gova/911, email AXA911@yahoo.com or any Police Officer of their choice.
Commissioner of Police, Rudolph Proctor stressed that all information would be held in the strictest confidence.
