Nine students of the University of the West Indies Open Campus Anguilla completed both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in 2012. Four of these students – Mr. Ensor Gumbs, Miss Sharnette Shaw, Miss Shermiah Laurent and Mrs. Evorna Joseph-Hodge recently travelled to St. Kitts in order to attend the annual Graduation Exercise which was held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort in Frigate Bay on Saturday, October 13th, 2012.
Graduate Degrees
Ms. Marcia Brooks completed a Masters of Education Degree (MEd.) in Literacy Instructions.
Mrs. Sharon Lake completed a Masters of Education Degree (MEd.) in Adult and Continuing Education.
Undergraduate Degrees
Mr. Ensor Gumbs, Mr. Colwayne Pickering, Miss Tesia Harrigan, Mrs. Enna Gumbs, Mrs. Evorna Joseph-Hodge and Miss Shermiah Laurent completed undergraduate degrees in the Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Management Studies programme.
Miss Sharnette Shaw completed an undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Education (BEd.) in the Secondary English and Literature Education programme.
This year’s Graduation Exercise was the fourth such event held to honour the UWI Open campus graduands across the region. The inaugural University of the West Indies Open Campus Graduation Ceremony was held in 2009 in St. Lucia, the UWIOC 2010 graduation exercise was held in Grenada and the UWIOC 2011 graduation exercise was held in Antigua.
Five of the graduates were recipients of scholarships funded by the Government of Anguilla. The Government of Anguilla continues to partner with the University of the West Indies Open Campus Anguilla in its efforts to create and foster higher education opportunities through the provision of the online associate, undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
