LIME Anguilla, in partnership with the Anguilla Tourist Board, is for the fourth year ensuring that children of the island are specially treated at Christmas. The telecommunications company donated EC$5,000 to the ATB on Tuesday, November 20, towards that end.
“As the Christmas season begins to gather full steam, we are very happy once more to partner with the Anguilla Tourist Board in bringing much cheer to the needy in the community,” LIME’s General Manager in Anguilla, Mark Romney, stated. “This is our fourth time being involved in such a very important community event that will bring much more joy to many unfortunate persons.
“This year we have even sought to increase our contribution, as best we could, given the economic climate, but we know that there are many more needy persons in the community, and we are trying to see if we can cover as many of them as possible.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that we have made a cheque for EC$5,000 payable to the Anguilla Tourist Board. The ATB, in partnership with many of our local businesses, will be using this money towards the purchase of food hampers as well as little toy items that bring some joy to those needy families.”
Mr. Romney said the donation was part of LIME’s community outreach efforts. “We recognise that, as a corporate citizen, we have our social responsibility and we will always seek to provide much good cheer especially during Christmas time. Christmas is a very emotional time and it is really about giving,” he added.
The cheque was presented to Brenda Gumbs who accepted it on behalf of the Director of Tourism, Candis Niles.
