There has been a prolonged drought in Anguilla for several months hampering agricultural production, but Derrick Mitchell, alias “Heavy D”, is one of the lucky farmers engaging in some successful farming.
Mitchell, a native of Dominica, has been residing in Anguilla for some 20 years, growing various crops, including cassava, bananas, sweet potatoes, papayas and other produce, in Water Ground and Bad Cox.
His recent harvest includes 100 pounds of sweet cassava – a good supply for the local market. He showcased his agricultural bounty at The Anguillian several days ago.
