Ms. Dorothea Hodge, Anguilla’s representative to the European Union and the United Kingdom, has been celebrated as one of Britain’s top 100 influential black people. She stands alongside a number of other leading persons including double Olympic gold medallist, Mo Farrah, and Idris Elba, the Hollywood actor.
Power List 2013, now in its sixth year, recognises the top 100 people regarded as role models in their fields. Dorothea was acknowledged for her work with representing the Government of Anguilla, as well as her previous roles. These included working as a Special Advisor to the House of Lords, with Kofi Annan, Tony Blair, African Governments and the current Under Secretary-General of the UN, Valarie Amos.
The winner of Power List 2013 was David Adjaye who has become one of the highest-profile architects in the world in recent years.
Dorothea is currently working closely with several international institutions, including the European Union and the European Investment Bank, to diversify the Anguillian economy.
The above information was sent to The Anguillian by the London Office at which Dorothea is attached. The story was accompanied by a note which read: “From all of the Anguillian London Office, we want to say congratulations to Dorothea, and keep up the good work.”
