Three primary school children are winners of the 2012 word creation competition which held by the Anguilla Statistics Department from September 24 to October 8.
Chief Statistician Lori-Rae Alleyne-Franklin, who distributed the prizes on Wednesday this week, said the competition was organised in observance of Caribbean Statistics Day on October 15 and the Anguilla Statistics Week 2012.
As part of the occasion, the Anguilla Statistics Department held its Fourth Annual Word Creation Competition. Students from all the primary schools were tasked to submit one entry with as many words as possible from the word Statistical. There were 100 entries from seven primary schools.
The winner of the competition with a total of 146 valid words, from an entry of 251 words, was Aaron Campbell, a third grader at Central Christian Primary School. In second place was Derissa Benjamin, a third grader from the Orealia Kelly Primary School with 142 valid words from an entry of 169 words. The third place was taken by Tivoneyea Williams, a fifth grader from The Valley Primary School. He submitted 140 valid words from an entry of 157 words.
The Chief Statistician said the Anguilla Statistics Department was grateful to all the schools for their participation, as well as the teachers and parents, who encouraged the students to participate in the competition.
