A contribution of US$2,000 by NAGICO Insurance in Anguilla has brought to thirty thousand dollars the funds collected so far by the Anguilla Red Cross towards the purchase of a special wheelchair bus. The vehicle is to transport persons in the community needing medical and other assistance.

NAGICO Insurance made the donation on Wednesday, October 3, which was presented by the company’s Agency & Customer Service Administrator, Carlyn Carty. It was accepted on behalf of the Red Cross by Agnita Hodge of South Valley who was instrumental in helping to secure the donation.

Red Cross Coordinator, Ricky Rouphine said: “The support we are getting from NAGICO will extend us to a thirty thousand milestone in our collection efforts. We have another twenty thousand dollars to go, but we are getting there. I want to say to NAGICO: thanks very much for your corporate sponsorship and support in recognising the importance in having such a service for the people of Anguilla to be transported around the island safely.”

Ms Carlyn Carty replied that NAGICO was honoured to contribute the generous gift to the Anguilla Red Cross to assist the organisation to reach its target goal to purchase the wheelchair bus. “We have seen the challenges and difficulties you experience in transporting persons in a paralyzed stage, as well as their families and caretakers, to the doctors and physio-therapists at the clinics,” she stated. “We are quite happy to be part of this fund-raising effort.”
