Presiding over the fourteenth opening ceremony at Cuisinart Golf Resort and Spa, General Manager, Stephane Zaharia, said last season was a very successful one for the hotel and hopefully this season would be equally productive and busy. Among the recent accomplishments, he pointed to, were the acquiring of the golf course in August 2011, and the renaming of the hotel in October that year to reflect the new addition to the resort.
“We are truly a destination resort. We have everything to offer,” he continued at the reopening event on Saturday, October 13. “We have a world-class18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman. We have four restaurants at the resort. We have opened two new restaurants during the past season: Italia, which is a very successful Italian restaurant, true to its origin of southern cuisine. We have the only authentic Japanese restaurant,TokyoBay, on top of the Spa. We have Le Bistro by Santorini at the resort and we also have the Beach Grill that is open for dinner. Four restaurants at one resort is a fantastic achievement. We have a world-class spa, one of the largest in theCaribbean– 27,000 square-feet and sixteen treatment rooms. We havethree tennis courts; a wonderful beach, a great and excited staff; and we are looking forward to an absolutely fabulous year, 2013.
“Yes, there are challenges, but we are very competitive. We have a great product and our occupancy is growing continuously. We have redone our pool and rooms. We are getting great comments from travel agents and tour operators, and from the media, about how good the resort is. We continue to be supportive of the community and have just sponsored an event for Shara Proctor whom we have awarded a gold medal – from the Anguillian society – in thanking her for her contribution to our island. We continue to support the schools, working with Johnson& Wales on developing hospitality programmes, and we will continue to promote Anguillians as the human resource in the industry.”
Mr.Zaharia said a new road had now been constructed making the entrance to the golf course the official access to the resort. “It is pristine, manicured, showcases and exemplifies what the resort is really about,” he stated. “It has beautiful signs about our restaurants and spa facilities; and we are looking forward to welcoming everybody through this new entrance.”
Mr. Zaharia was asked about plans to redevelop the golf course project. “The resort we are looking to build is moving forward, and we are now in the final phases of planning,” he replied. “We have already demolished four big buildings on the site where the resort is to be constructed. The resort is going to have between sixty and seventy rooms. It is going to be a continuation of the current resortwe have. We are right now in process of finalising the real estate side, and are in talks with Greg Norman’s company to join us with marketing because of the very strong followers of his brand name.
“Just as 2011/2012 was busy, 2012/2013 is going to be an absolutely busy season.”
