A new initiative has been embarked on at Campus B aimed at showcasing excellence and outstanding achievement among model students. It is called “Students Rock” Awards.
“The objective is to recognise, inspire and promote those who work to the best they can be,” the Head of Year, and Form Tutors of Year 2, said in the programme brochure for the various categories of awardees. According to the programme brochure, Thursday, October 4, was an evening when students were “recognised and rewarded for excelling in school and form classes based on targets set during the last school year – 2011-2012 – when they were in first form.”
The categories of awards, announced by Head of Year, Sarah Frances, were as follows: the Spirit Award for which students with leadership skills were chosen; Academic Honour Roll Awards, presented to thirty-seven students; Perfect Attendance Awards, received by fifty-five students; Sports Awards, won by thirty-three students; an Award for the class with the most students who achieved 50% and above, each term, presented to class 1b1 (for all three terms); awards for the classes with the best overall average for the year – Forms 1A1, 1A3 and 1A4; and an award for Form 1A1 which achieved the 95% target attendance the most times.
The Most Outstanding Form in academics was Form 1A3; for Perfect Attendance, Form 1B3; for best in sports, Form 1B4; and for Discipline, Form 1A2. The Best Organised Form was Form 1A1.
The students, who won Spirit Awards for Leadership, were Miggy Llorea, Tsani Rogers, Nakia Webster, Akaliah Carty, O’Sanna Tomlinson, Ariel Bushay, Jeralyn Harrigan and Corey Buffonge.
The event, at the Rodney MacArthur Auditorium, was attended by a large number of parents and other persons in the community some of whom joined with Ms Frances and other teachers in presenting the awards to the students.
