Ten “A” Class boats lined up for the 2012 NBA Sponsored Peter Perkins race on Sunday 29th July.    Results were:

1st Sonic

2nd Real Deal

3rd De Tree

4th Wizard

5th Light & Peace

 

Meanwhile, all boat race enthusiasts are getting ready for the week of August races starting on Sunday with the race sponsored by Heineken and on Monday the “A” class Mac Owen/Elliot Carty race sponsored by LIME.

A contribution will be collected from persons going to Sandy Ground on Monday.  Please have your contribution ready before reaching the collection point at the junction leading down to the customs area.

 

10 Table Tennis Coaches Certified

Ten Table Tennis coaches received their certificates on Thursday 26th July at the JRWP,   after having met the requirements for the successful completion of the Level 1 course in November 2011.  Mrs. Verna Edwards, a coach fromTrinidad, challenged the coaches to continue working hard and aim to go on to the level 2 programme.  The certified coaches are Shem Wills, Renee Wills, Pastor Dextor Welcome, Derron Mitchell, Javier Richardson, Geshaune Clarke, Deputy Governor Stanley Reid, Heather Rodney, Hackeem Alves and Nigel Linton.  These coaches will be utilized in the after school table tennis programmes at the various Primary Schools.

 

Sports Summer Camp Numbers reach 71

The annual summer camp climaxed on Friday 27th July with a grand picnic at Sandy Ground beach.  A total of 71 children attended and were exposed to the basic skills required for Basketball, Netball, Volleyball, Cricket and Table Tennis.   The children also had the opportunity to engage in two golf sessions compliments Cuisinart Golf Resort.

A special thanks is extended to the coaches of the various sports, the Sports Department staff (including the workers at the park), Hall’s Unique Bakery, Mary’s Bakery and all others who contributed to making the camp a success.
