Rotary District Governor visits Anguilla

Vance Lewis, who is the District Governor for the Rotary District 7020 was inAnguillaon Friday August 17. It was part of his regional visit to the 84 clubs in the District that come under his jurisdiction in some ten countries including St Maarten, St Martin,  the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos and the US Virgin Islands.

Mr Lewis is from Tortola and is the first District Governor from the British Virgin Islands. He was accompanied by Assistant Governor James Ferris of St Maarten and District Administrator Monica Ramjeet. The group met with Governor Alistair Harrison and Minister of Social Development, Edison Baird, to discuss some of the needs in the community. They also held a meeting with the Board of the Anguilla Rotary Club. Lewis said that the Anguilla Club is a strong one that is helping the community in many ways and has made significant contributions to the worldwide Rotary project against polio. He said that this year Rotary International has “Peace Through Service” as its theme and one of the issues is conflict resolution.

 

Following the Board meeting the visiting group had lunch with a group of the Anguillian Rotarians at DaVida Restaurant.
