Digicel Donates To Summer Festival 2012

Tuesday 31st July, 2012, The Valley, Anguilla: Digicel, Anguilla’s Bigger, Better Network hasyet again maintained its pledge in supporting local culture by contributing significantly to the Anguilla Summer Festival 2012. Digicel’s contribution which exceeds $60,000.00, shows the commitment of the telecommunications giant, that regardless of the economic climate and challenges being faced, it will continue to support culture which forms the very fabric of our society.

The 2012 summer festivities which is branded under the theme “A Cultural Explosion; Expression of self” will showcase a number of activities that promotes the island’s heritage and culture in the art forms of boat racing, pageantry, Calypso and Soca music competitions, and in true carnival fashion, MASS PARADES, among others.

 

Country Manager of Digicel Anguilla, John Gidharry at the handing over ceremony of the cheque to the Anguilla National Carnival Committee stated that “Digicel has always and will always continue to have a vested interest in culture and youth in any market in which we serve, especially inAnguilla, where culture goes to a different level. Gidharry went on to state that “It is Companies like Digicel that help to carry on the traditions of a nation by tangibly making contributions directly to these areas where governments cannot do it alone.” We are proud to make this contribution and to be partnering with the Anguilla National Carnival Committee in executing the 2012 Summer Festival”said Gidharry.

 

“We are proud to stand behind our word and help to make the 2012 Summer Festival a delight for our locals, expatriates and visitors alike, as we endeavour to raise the bar and herald in an explosion of true culture that is unique to the people of the Caribbean” Said Gidharry.

 

Chairman of the National Carnival Committee, Davon Carty, stated “I am elated to have Digicel on board yet again for this year’s Anguilla Summer Festival” as he praised Digicel for being as committed as they are to all aspects of youth, sports and culture of the island.”

 

The 2012 Summer Festival Runs from July 27th to August 12th 2012.
