AXA-UK Association Donates to Anguilla Red Cross

On Friday August 17th 2012 the AXA- UK Association made donations to the Anguilla Red Cross (ARC) in an effort to support its programmes and projects. The donation ceremony took place at the ARC Headquarters at 10:00 am.

The AXA-UK Association, a non-profit organization,  contributed a variety of items including clothing, personal items and medical home care equipment and supplies. The organization is based in Slough,UK, and has been in existence since 2010. Its members came together in an effort to make a significant difference in Anguilla as each of them is from Anguilla or of Anguillian descent.

Deputy Chairperson, Ms. Sharlene Hodge, stated that the AXA-UK Association is dedicated to giving back toAnguilla. Its members hold fund raising activities which are all geared to supporting Anguillian  individuals and organizations. Just last year they petitioned for, and obtained, items that have improved the lives of inamtes of the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home. This year their focus is on the Anguilla Red Cross, thus the contribution of various medical supplies. Research and scouting are the Associations’ current pursuits as it strives to identify and document immediate needs of persons within communities and other institutions or organizations.

The Chair of the Anguilla Red Cross, Susan Hodge, closed the event with remarks of gratitude while officially receiving the donation on behalf of the Branch. She assured the members of media, and Association members, that the beneficiaries would be delighted to receive the donated items.
