As the Scotia Bank sponsored Kiddy Cricket Tournament came to a close Vivien Vanterpool Primary School found themselves defending their wickets against the powerhouse of Orealia Kelly Primary School.

Being the smallest school on the island, VVPS emulated the biblical showdown between David and Goliath as they denied the favourites OKPS a victory. VVPS won the match by 8 wickets as they were able to stroke their way passed Orealia Kelly’s 103 runs for 4 wickets, with a score of 104 runs and losing only 2 wickets in the process.

Orealia Kelly’s Kavaughn Lake posted 54 runs for his team in the finals and also took home the Batsman of the Series award hitting 249 runs. Vivien Vanterpool’s best came from Junior Rogers who made 45 runs in the final, and their bowler, Christopher Baijinauth’s 5 wickets earned him the title of Bowler of the Series.

Unable to advance to the final,Valley Primary Schoolhad to settle for 3rd place.

The feeling of victory is now becoming a norm for students and teachers of Vivien Vanterpool Primary. In February, this year, they won both the boys and girls titles in the 2012 Inter-Primary Volleyball Tournament.
