The 2012 Miss CCB Talented Teen contestants have been challenged to live their goals as they move towards adulthood.
The five contestants – Tangiera Huggins-17, Simonia William-17, Latonya Mussington-17, Akaila Laing-14, and Dwayniqua Baird-17 – participated in the 3rd Development Session, on Monday 16th July, organised by the Caribbean Commercial Bank.
Internal Auditor at CCB Mrs Elvarie Vanterpool conducted the session on Career Development.
Mrs Vanterpool, who has been working with CCB since 2002, took the contestants through their goals. She reminded them they should have a love for what they intend to do. She commended them for their choices of careers which ranged from becoming a forensic pathologist, marriage counselor, pediatrician, psychologist and culinarian.
The Internal Auditor also reminded them that Christian values should play a dominant role in their lives and to do things in moderation.
The contestants spent a lively and interactive ninety minutes session sharing experiences and talking with Mrs Vanterpool who, in turn, shared some banking tips with them as regards her line of work.
Some of the contestants are planning to go on to college in the fall, or early 2013, while others at the urging of their parents will work for at least one year to broaden their horizons.
The contestants say preparations for the pageant are going well even though it is a little stressful.
As a group, they thanked CCB and the Talented Teen Committee for giving them the opportunity to take part in the pageant and to form new friendships.
The Talented Teen Pageant is on Thursday 2nd August at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre in The Valley. It will commence at 8 pm sharp.
