Carnival is in the air, and keeping in touch is essential. With boat races and j’ouvert, street venders and shows, people are bustling on the streets all trying to connect and get a piece of the Carnival action. Digicel, the “bigger, better network,” made note of the inflated phone use during the Carnival season and decided to create a promotion to better serve their customers during this time.

On Wednesday July 18, 2012 Digicel launched the “Get Smart for Carnival” promotion which is “nothing short of great value,” according to Cooperate Manager Anthony Pickering. The Digicel office was full of life at the promotion launch as Mr. Pickering and Sales Executive, Jervis Richardson, spoke vehemently about the exciting value customers can expect. Those who purchase any Blackberry smart phone, including the promoted Curve™ 9360, Torch™ 9860 and Curve™ 9300, will receive a 7-day local/regional voice plan and 1 month data and text absolutely free. If you are not a Blackberry user, the Samsung 3520 Flip is also available for purchase as part of the deal. The promotion also includes free credit upon any new activation. The goal is to give Digicel prepaid and post paid customers real value, allowing them to be part of the culture of the island and liberally share their Carnival experiences.

While speaking to Radio Anguilla representatives Farrah Banks and Lisa Rey, Mr. Richardson stated that “2012 is a major year of value for Digicel,” asserting this Carnival deal  as the fourth promotion for the year. He was not only proud of the work Digicel is doing but also quite surprised by the length to which the company has gone to satisfy the community. “When I saw some of the prices on the phones I thought it was a typo,” Mr. Richardson said jokingly, in the live Radio Anguilla interview.

Mr. Colwayne Pickering

During the broadcast, radio personality Ms. Rey highlighted, in playful commentary, that Carnival will not conclude until the 12th of August. Originally, Digicel’s Carnival promotion was to run from July 18th until August 10th. However, Ms. Rey’s lighthearted comment spurred Mr. Pickering to promise an extension of the offer, which is now said to end on the 11th of August – giving customers an extra day to enjoy the aforementioned promotion services.

But, the value continues! With every purchase, Digicel will include a free “Carnival Pack” which comprises a drawstring bag, bandana and water bottle. In addition, customers are eligible for the following deals:

Mr. Valdez Johnson

•    Pay only $3.50 for any 30-min call to theUS,CanadaorUKfixed line

•    Free 27 mins on local and regional Digicel calls

•    Access to the “CASHBACK” and “Free after 3” promotions

•    Free Credit for topping up $35 or more

All who attended the launch were extremely pleased with the promotion deals. Longstanding customer Valdez D. A. Johnson purchased two Blackberry smart phones proclaiming on air that he will be a “customer for life!” Another individual stated that he was “really impressed with Digicel” for having the Blackberry 9860, which he recently purchased overseas, declaring that “Digicel is on the same level as other markets – not just nationally but internationally”.

Mr. Jervis Richardson

If you did not attend the launch, but would like to get in on the savings, visit the Digicel Office in the Babrow Building, The Valley, before the offer expires on August 11th.
