Diamond Athletics Club successful in Curacao

On their maiden voyage, the Diamond Athletics Club demonstrated that their MOTTO of “Train Hard Win Easy” is a part of their lives, and have represented the continued growth of Track and Field in Anguilla with their performance at the Trupial-Auto City Classic in Curacao which took place on the 7th & 8th of July 2012. The team, which consisted of 5 female and 8 male athletes, competed at a high standard and not only won 24 medals but also registered their season’s best individual performances. The medal count was 6 Golds, 9 silvers and 9 Bronze.

Jonicia Richardson: 1 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze

Nicole Gumbs: 1 gold & 2 bronze

Artesha Richardson: 1 gold

Angelena Gumbs: 1 silver

Oswald White: 1 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze

Mauriel Carty: 1 gold & 1 silver

Calan Vanterpool; 1 gold & 1 bronze

Aaron Richardson: 2 silvers

Stephan Ryan : 2 bronzes

Deon Vanterpool: 1 bronze

Atlin Harrigan: 1 bronze

The team walked away with silver in 3 of the 4 relays they took part in.

The Club would like to extend special thanks to Digicel, Blanchards, Cuisinart Resort & Spa, Anacaona, Napa, Straw Hat, Shoal Bay Villas, Merchants Market, Shop 4 Less, La Severine Fitness for their sponsorship and every other establishment/person who supported our fund raising drive to make this trip a reality.
