CCB TALENTED TEEN COMPETITORS AT MOTIVATIONAL SESSION

Dr. Linda Banks with CCB Talented Teen Competitors

The five CCB Talented Teen Competitors began a series of preparatory activities on Monday, July 9, in the run-up to the pageant on Thursday, August 2, at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre.

Monday’s motivational session was conducted by Clinical Psychologist,Dr. M. Linda Banks. She commenced by stressing the need for the young ladies to pay attention to living their lives keeping in mind the three E’s (Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy). “The tips deal with personality, not holding on to negativity,” she explained. “The aim is for them to have fun in life; … to smile and laugh more; and give of themselves to others because, in doing so, they will be happy themselves…

Dr. Banks also lectured the contestants on leadership matters and requested them to enter into a pledge to live their lives positively and successfully despite the negative influences of other persons.

Other sessions arranged for the participants included career development, business etiquette and question and answer.

The contestants in the 18th annual CCB-sponsored Talented Teen competition are:Dwaynyqua Baird, 17, a Fifth Form student who plans to attend college later to study Forensic Pathology; Tangiera Huggins, 17, who is entering Sixth Form; Simonia William,17, who is also going into Sixth Form and plans to attend college later; Akelia Lang, 14, a Fourth Form student; and contestant number five is Letanyo Mussington, 17, who plans to study Psychology later on.

The reigning Miss CCB Talented Teen Queen isKivaneeLake, of Little Harbour, who won the title in the Summer Festival inAnguillain 2011. She then competed in the Haynes-Smith Pageant in St. Kitts in December that year and placed third from among twelve contestants from the region.
