George Hill – 30 May, 2012 –Caribbean Cable Communications today announced the results of the 4th Annual Inter-Primary Anguilla Day Quiz, which took place at the Orealia Kelly Primary School Auditorium last Wednesday, May 23. The event, sponsored by the Department of Education and Caribbean Cable, was one of the activities organized to mark the May 30th Anguilla Day celebrations under the theme “Anguilla at 45, time to rejoice, build and reconcile.”
The six-round competition made for an entertaining and educational evening, testing the students’ knowledge of their history and culture. In all, six schools took part in the quiz – and across the board the standard was quite high.
By the end of round six, Caliyah Sutton, Shezilique Frazer and Angela Guintohad advanced to first place for Morris Vanterpool Primary School, with a score of 96. Valley Primary, Vivienne Vaterpool and Adrian T. Hazell Primary Schoolwent to sudden death for 2nd and 3rd place. The excitement grew as Adrian T.Hazell was knocked out, and Valley Primary took second place, leaving last year’s first place winners in third position.
“Everyone did an incredible job and, as sponsors of this event, we want to congratulate all the students who took part in this year’s Quiz,” said ShiannahGumbs, Branch Manager of Caribbean Cable Communications. “The depth of knowledge these students demonstrated surprised everyone, and clearly showed the audience how much fun learning can be.”
The winning schools took home awards that included a challenge trophy, a gift bag with school supplies for the students, and iPod Shuffles for the 1st place winners. All 18 participants received commemorative trophies and certificates of participation. All prizes were donated by Caribbean Cable Communications.
