The first, a stabbing incident, occurred at Scilly Cay on Sunday, June 10 at about 1.45. The Police said they found Marcus Rogers of Island Harbour, with a puncture wound in his chest. He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital by ambulance, where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.

S.R. of East End has been charged with the murder of Marcus Rogers. Meanwhile, J. H and S.W. also of East End have been charged with taking part in a fight in relation to the same incident.

Commissioner Rudolph Proctor

The other murder was that of Jordel Gumbs of North Side. The Police said that on Monday, June 11, at about 10 pm., they responded to a report of a shooting incident at Kassique at West End.

On arrival they found Jordel Gumbs unconscious in his motor vehicle with four gunshot wounds to his left side. He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. One male is in custody assisting the Police with their investigation.

Jordel was one of the Anguillian chefs selected as a member of the national team to participate in the Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition in Miami next week.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Rudolph Proctor, has thanked officers of the Force for their sensitive handling of the situation at Island Harbour when the crowd rose up in anger following the death of their fellow district resident. He said investigations were being carried into the destruction of a vehicle which was driven to the area by the accused person, and that the persons involved would be prosecuted.
