Vice President of the Anguilla Amateur Athletic Federation (AAAF), Mr. Winston Duncan presented the Juluca Fun Day Team with all three of the Federation’s 2012 Labour Day/Fun Day Sports Trophies on 29th May.
Mr. Duncan made the presentations at Cap Juluca’s Employee Awards Luncheon where the Resort paid special tribute to the Fun Day Team for their clean sweep win of the annual Labour Day sports. The Cap Juluca Fun Day Team emerged overall 2012 Champions, as well as the Tug of War Champions and the winners of the Largest Team Trophy.
Speaking on behalf of the Federation, Vice President Duncan thanked the Cap Juluca team for the energy, passion and professionalism that they bring to the Fun Day Sports every year. “We can count on you to bring the excitement,” he said, “and the Federation is pleased that as the largest team, you continue to be well-organised and positive role models for our youngsters to emulate.”
The sporting official, in noting that the Cap Juluca Team is one of the longest participating teams, also pointed out that it is the team which has amassed the most trophies over the years. The Cap Juluca Fun Day Team has been winning trophies dating back to 1999 when the Association started awarding the teams with trophies. The Team has won the most Championships and manages to capture one or more of the winning trophies each year.
Director of Human Resources, Dr. Phyllis Fleming Banks, thanked Mr. Duncan and the AAAF for their commitment to organising the annual Fun Day activities in celebration of Labour Day, noting that the Labour Day/Fun Day Sports is the only event that brings the workers of Anguilla together on such a significant day. We have no Labour Day parades or rallies, but over the past eighteen years the AAAF has managed to bring public and private sector workers together in friendly competition. The Fun Day sports not only provide a meeting ground for workers onAnguilla, but they also serve as a great team building and motivational activity, said the HR Director.
The Juluca Fun Day Team Victory celebrations continued with a victory party for the Junior Julucans and other members of the Team at Blue Restaurant on Friday, 8th June.
