Sixteen Food and Beverage students at the Anguilla Community College have completed their practical examinations as part of their hospitality studies at the local institution.
“Cuisinart Golf Resort and Spa have been very gracious in allowing us to use their facilities because we have very limited space at the Anguilla Community College,” Director of Hospitality Studies, Sharon Richardson, told The Anguillian.
“We have been able to cut down on the time and to have more students doing practicals. We are working with the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica, and for the practical examinations the students had to choose from three questions. They were geared to testing their ability, everything they learnt over the semester.
“Therefore, some of them were required to prepare rice in a certain method, protein dishes, soups, vegetable salads and various other dishes. All of these they would have covered in their lectures with Karimah Carty and Ms. Reid-Marlin.”
The students, who are working towards Associate Degrees in Hospitality, began their studies in September last year. They have between two and five years to complete their degrees.
The sixteen students took their exams at Cuisinart Resort over a three-day period. Ms. Richardson was grateful to Executive Chef Daniel for his assistance in facilitating the students.
