Under the leadership of Christine Brooks-Morancie, Senior Probation Officer at the Department of Probation and the directorship of Betty Feinman, the Literacy Chairperson for the Rotary Club of Anguilla, the ten session semester addressed improvement of reading skills, comprehension, and spelling exercises. All three of the motivated students in the program had measurable improvements in their literacy skills and enhanced their enjoyment of the written word. The program focuses on providing materials particular to the students’ interests and curiosities. The final session is a celebratory pizza party and presentation of certificates of completion are awarded to the participants. We welcome interested persons to the program who may want to offer their time to help out some of our youth in need of extra attention and aid in providing this most necessary and primary of skills….”Reading.” If you are interested in joining the program please write to Betty at Bettina008@aol.com.
Chief Probation Officer of the Department, Ms. Jocelyn Johnson, would also like to resonate thanks to Betty and the other volunteers of the Rotary Club of Anguilla. Whom without their continued support this programme could not be a success.
