Delroy Lake elected President of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA)

The board of Directors of the AHTA met last week to elect the officers for the Association for the membership year 2012. The directors voted unanimously to electDelroyLake, the General Manager of Anacaona Boutique Hotel as President and Janine Edwards, owner of Sunset Homes as the new Vice President.

Mr Lake replaces Sherille Hughes, of Paradise Cove Hotel/Ultimacy Villa Retreat. Mrs Hughes, who has served as President of the AHTA for the last 9 years declined to stand for election and nominatedDelroyLakewho has served as Vice President for the past 3 years. Mrs Hughes strongly endorsed Mr Lake who has already acted as her deputy on a number of occasions.

 

MrDelroyLakeis an Anguillian Hotelier with a passionate commitment to the training and education of Anguillans to equip them to succeed in management positions. He began his career at Carimar Beach Hotel, moved onto become the General Manager of Ku Hotel for 5 years and became General Manager at Anacaona Boutique Hotel 3 years ago when Sue and Robin Ricketts took over the ownership. Mr Lake, a previous recipient of Hotelier of the Year – is also a member of the Anguilla Tourist Board and has served on the TVET council.

On confirmation of the position Mr Lake said to his fellow Board Members “thank you for electing me – you will not be disappointed. I will strive to make the Association even stronger and to represent the member’s requests and concerns as well as possible.”

Other positions on the Board are Vice President – Janine Edwards, Sunset Homes; Treasurer – Avon Carty, LIME; Secretary – Trudy Nixon, True Communications; Officers: Fred Thompson, Carimar Beach Club; Stephane Zaharia, Cuisinart Golf Resort and Spa; Sherille Hughes, Paradise Cove; Joash Proctor, SandBar; and Jeff David, Viceroy Anguilla.
